After a rather disastrous stay in a villa about an hour North East of Rome in July 2018 we left the villa a couple of days early and spent a few of nights in Rome at the request of our eldest son Callum aged 18, before catching our flight home.
I booked the rooms on one of the last minute websites and we set off early the next morning. It was such a relief to be in beautiful, air-conditioned rooms in the centre of Rome just by the Piazza Navona. We made a slight error on arrival by driving to the hotel through a restricted zone and received a fine a few months later!! But it was so worth it...
The final thing I did before we left for Rome was to book a 2 hour Segway trip around the city for the following morning. It left from the ....... We had a charming Italian guide who spoke excellent English and it was one of the best two hours I have ever spent in the city and the perfect family outing. Although we love Rome and have been there many times, there is a limit to the amount of site seeing our three boys will endure. It really was a fabulous way to see Rome, there was something rather special about cruising through the Piazza Navona on a Segway.
