Sardinia

Sardinia would have to be our favourite European destination for a family holiday, we have visited numerous times from when the boys were very small. The sea is beautifully clean and the beaches are lovely if you know where to look (some can be very crowded in mid-summer). We have stayed in both villas and hotels and have always had a great time.We love it there and will probably keep going back even once the boys have left home. In 2017 we stayed in a villa attached to a hotel by the beach on the South coast, it had a beautiful pool and the boys took a couple of friends with them which worked out really well. We hired a small mini bus to use for going out for supper in the evenings which was a real laugh! Sardinia has something for everyone. The people are typically friendly Italians and we always look forward to heading out to a local town in the evenings stopping for a drink, ice cream or supper in the square or on the seafront. The good restaurants are always lively places full of Italians and often very busy. We have stayed on the South Coast, East Coast and North East Coast, it is always great fun to wander around the streets of Porto Cervo looking at the amazing yachts and designer shops, or alternatively the towns in the South are more low key and relaxed but are still full of lovely places to eat....

Favourite beer:  Ichnusa
